Serial concatenation of block and convolutional codes - Electronics Letters

چکیده
Measures: The results of the previous Figures have been obtained on an emittingkeceiving 4-IPPM 2Mbit/s circuit prototype. A standard PPM codifier is added to a pulse conformation block that takes eight samples stored in a look-up table to give the form to the pulse. It has been implemented on an FPGA ALTERA EPM 5064 JC-1. The D/A is a simple and inexpensive DAC08. As the optical emitter we use a Siemens SFH 477 IRED with an analogue driver. As the receiver we used a Hamamatsu C5331 APD. The decissor is a block maximum likelihood one.

Performance of Turbo Codes over Magnetic Recording Channels
| We study the performance of turbo codes for magnetic recording channels using realistic channel models. Our main objective is to provide a benchmark for the future studies on the subject. We examine a variety of schemes including the use of parallel concatenated turbo codes with and without turbo equalization and convolutional codes with an interleaver (can be regarded as a serial concatenati...
متن کاملDifferential Turbo Space-Time Coding
Serial concatenation of standard convolutional or block codes with differential spacetime modulation is considered for flat fading multiple antenna channels. Extrinsic information transfer is used to predict thresholds for various outer codes. Using the differential structure of the inner code near coherent performance is obtained without the use of training symbols.
متن کاملChapter 3 Coding Theorems for Convolutional Accumulate - m Codes
It is well-known that long random codes achieve reliable communication at noise levels up to the Shannon limit, but they provide no structure for efficient decoding. The introduction and analysis of Repeat Accumulate (RA) codes by Divsalar, Jin, and McEliece [10] shows that the concatenation of a repetition code and a rate-1 code, through a random interleaver, can also achieve reliable communic...
متن کاملLow-rate channel coding with complex-valued block codes
This paper addresses aspects of channel coding in orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing–code-division multiple access (OFDM-CDMA) uplink systems where each user occupies a bandwidth much larger than the information bit rate. This inherent bandwidth expansion allows the application of powerful low-rate codes under the constraint of low decoding costs. Three different coding strategies are c...
متن کاملConcatenated space-time codes for quasi-static fading channels: constrained capacity and code design
Abstract— The problem of designing codes with close-tocapacity performance on the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) quasi-static fading channel (QSFC) is addressed. We consider three different coding schemes – namely, direct transmission of random-like codes, concatenation with linear processing orthogonal space-time block codes (o-STBC) and concatenation with space-time trellis codes (STTC...
